The second-pattern Step-in jump smock in Splinter-B camouflage print over leftover grunmeliert is a unique reproduction.
With the introduction of Splinter-B fabric in late 1940, some factories still made use of the existing green flecked fabric of the standard green m40 smock, as the base fabric, on which green and brown shapes and rain were printed. The Splinter-B pattern has been designed from tens of original fabric, with the correct geometric shapes and with the same wartime-repeat size, to give you the most authentic look possible.
The smock comes with pre-stitched eagle insignia, armpit vents, and Belt hook holes. Leather tabs for the zippers. Zig-zag stitched under the collar and snaps buttons are also included.
The smock was meant to be baggy, in order to fit all the equipment inside. This smock is designed with the original use in mind and hence the garment is spacious. When it comes to choosing your size for the Splinter-B Step-in Jump Smock, it is important to take accurate measurements of your body. Then also measure your height and select your size based on these 2 measurements.
An overall garment for German paratroopers to protect lines from being entangled with equipment. After a jump, this smock was usually kept by the soldier to provide extra pockets and as a rain cover. It was many-a-time worn in every scenario because it gave the paratroopers the symbol of an elite unit. The Splinter-B print was a unique development and the first Wehrmacht uniform garment to make use of camouflage, apart from the Zeltbahn introduced a decade earlier.
