Historical Information about the Field Division Collar Tabs
During the winter of 1941/1942, in particular, the area close to Stalingrad, The Luftwaffe ground fighting troops started operating. To further replenish the Wehrmacht losses, in September 1942, the official Luftwaffe Ground Forces were formed. These were assigned with a green waffenfarbe, a darker shade than that used by the airfield traffic control. The branch of the service was to be reflected by the piping around the collar tabs and on the shoulder boards.
