With pattern and insignia copied from originals in our collection, this Luftwaffe Side cap (so-called "Schiffchen") of woolen construction has all the right features. Machine embroidered insignia is correctly hand stitched to the cap, with trimmed cap eagle and tri-colour cockade, wrapped around stiff backing as could be observed on all originals (but rarely on other reproductions).
The cap also includes wading and a stiffening cane at the top to help it keep it in shape, a nice detail of the early Flyer's cap.
Size Guideline: sizes are exact and you can order exactly your head size. No need to go one size up.
The Luftwaffe side cap (Fliegermütze) was the primary headgear issued to all Luftwaffe Enlisted ranks and NCOs from 1935 until very late 1943 when the M43 model (Einheitsfliegermütze) was being introduced as a replacement to newly formed units and as replacements after the side cap was worn out.
