The field-cap evolution reached a final stage, with the well known M43 cap. In September 43, the new pattern was introduced and intented on replacing all previous field caps and flying caps. This cap featured the Heer eagle and the national tri-colour cockade. Officers were primarily identified by the silver piping and the silver buttons.
