The second pattern Fallschirmjager jump smock in green flecked cloth (grünmeliert) was the result of a series of testing, whereby the result was a smock that could be worn with ease, with a hidden zipper and closed off with 4 buttons at the top.
The m38 model was introduced together with more modern and adapt paratrooper specific clothing. Completed with factory-stitched breast eagle on the same grunmeliert fabric.
In addition, this item has elastic Internal cuffs. Armpit vents, Belt hook holes. Leather tabs for the zippers. Zig-zag stitched under the collar. snaps buttons.
The smock was meant to be baggy, in order to fit all the equipment inside. This smock is designed with the original use in mind and hence the garment is spacious. Choose your chest size if you want to wear it over the shirt, tunic, fliegerbluse, webbing and gas mask bag and retain that authentic Fallschirmjager look.
Initially, this garment served as an overall garment for German paratroopers to protect lines from being entangled with equipment. At first, it was put aside right after the jump to reveal the equipment loaded inside, however it was a practical piece of equipment, as it had weatherproof properties.
