The smock was meant to be baggy, in order to fit all the equipment inside. This smock is designed with the original use in mind and hence the garment is spacious. Choose your chest size if you want to wear it over the shirt, tunic, fliegerbluse or greatcoat and retain that authentic fallschirmjager look.If you a tighter fit is what you want, choose one size less.
Historical Info about the German Paratrooper jump smock
An overall garment for German paratroopers to protect lines being entangled with equipment. After a jump, this smock was usually kept by the soldier to provide extra pockets and as a rain cover. It was many a times worn in every scenario because it gave the paratroopers the symbol of an elite unit.
This model is an improved version over the Crete Smock (2nd pattern). It is considered to be more practical, especially when nature calls.
